Reportage/Drawings, Associate Artist Julia Sverchuk
Julia is a reportage artist. Reportage is the practice of drawing on location from direct observation, with the intent of documenting events as they transpired.
In her drawings, Julia captures actors in motion—their facial expressions, their gestures—with the kind of life and energy that can only be achieved through direct observation. There is no time for rendering and finesse: glace away for one second - and the actors have already moved! As a result, reportage drawings tell the factual story of what happened as well as how it felt.
